The mayor of Bishkek pointed out illegal burials and the lack of alternative routes
The mayor of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Aibek Junushaliev, held a meeting with residents of the MTU "Novopavlovka" to discuss plans for the construction of a road that will pass through the local cemetery.
The extension of Profsoyuznaya Street is planned, which has caused discontent among local residents, as there are 1,364 graves in the cemetery. Upon learning about the upcoming project, they appealed to the authorities to reconsider the decision, as not everyone can complete reburials before the work begins.
In response, Junushaliev reminded that from 2021 to 2024, dozens of people were buried in the cemetery without following regulations. Some of these burials are directly on the route of the new road.
The mayor expressed his concern regarding compliance with sanitary norms during burials. The issues of reburials were discussed with the bishop and the mufti, as the project requires the release of land.
Additionally, as part of this project, four residential houses are to be demolished, with compensation provided for the owners.
"There is no alternative to this section," the mayor emphasized.
