According to residents, the planned road expansion includes the roadway, sidewalks, drainage system, and landscaping, which will require a width of at least 30 meters. During the discussions, it became known that the city administration is considering the option of demolishing the cemetery located in this area.
At the meeting, the mayor emphasized that there are several options for implementing this project.
He noted: "The first option involves constructing the road in a straight line, which in the past was associated with high-voltage power lines. I asked specialists to thoroughly study this section and consider all possible solutions. We do not plan immediate demolition; this is an extremely complex task."
The mayor also mentioned a second option, which involves bypassing the cemetery: "This road is necessary; it is important for residents and public transport."
According to him, the development of the city requires progress: "I can provide many examples where cemeteries were relocated for the sake of infrastructure development in Osh, Balakchy, and other cities. The population is growing, and we must adapt to these changes," he added.
However, some local residents oppose the demolition, emphasizing that their relatives are buried in the cemetery. Today, February 2, they sent an appeal to the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev.
In the appeal, residents stated: "We, the residents of Novopavlovka, are categorically against the demolition of the cemetery on our territory."
They emphasize that the cemetery is an important part of the village's history and a burial place for many generations, and any intervention without public consent violates moral norms.
Residents also highlighted several reasons why the demolition of the cemetery is unacceptable:
- it insults the memory of the deceased and the feelings of their families;
- it violates cultural and traditional values;
- it may contradict legislation regulating the protection of burial sites;
- it causes social tension and distrust towards the authorities.
