Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Transit Potential

On February 11, the second meeting of the transport ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation took place in Istanbul, where the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, Abstat Syrgabaev, met with Ilkhom Makhkamov, his Uzbek counterpart. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

During the meeting, key aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the transport sector were discussed. In particular, the parties exchanged data on the project to create a railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The importance of removing existing barriers to maximize the transit potential of both countries was also emphasized.

Additionally, the ministers discussed issues related to cargo transportation to Pakistan through the territory of Kyrgyzstan, as well as obtaining visas for Uzbek drivers.

At the end of the negotiations, the parties agreed on the necessity of quickly resolving all emerging issues. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation.
