The Bishkek City Court issued a ruling on journalist Kanyshay Mamyrkulova

Court verdict: acquitted on one charge and found guilty on another.

A session was held at the Bishkek City Court to consider the case of journalist Kanyshay Mamyrkulova.

The court found her not guilty under Article 330 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning incitement to hatred, but at the same time found her guilty under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, related to calls for mass riots. Her probation period was reduced to three years.

Thus, despite the dismissal of some charges, the sentence on the other charge remained in effect, but the term was modified.

Recall that Kanyshay Mamyrkulova was detained on March 20, 2025. She was charged under the articles "Calls for mass riots" and "Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious, or interregional hostility (hatred)" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The investigation claimed that the journalist disseminated false information about the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, which could lead to destabilization of the situation in the country. The Main Internal Affairs Directorate noted that a forensic linguistic examination confirmed the presence of calls for violence, which served as the basis for initiating a criminal case.

As a result, the court sentenced her to six years of imprisonment, but applied probation supervision for a period of four years.
