According to Akayev, the city will not allow this area to be turned back into a chaotic marketplace. He emphasized: “There will be no market here — neither a clothing market nor trading points. The market is gone forever, and we will not allow its return.”
The mayor explained that instead of a market, a modern and compact space is planned to be created, focused on tourists and local artisans.
“We will create a small area for our craftsmen, where tourists can stroll and purchase their products. This will be a cultural venue, not a trading one. The space will be modern, tidy, and convenient,” he added.
The city hall noted that the project is already in the discussion stage, and the main goal is to create a clean and well-maintained space that will organically fit into the city’s tourist infrastructure.
