The researcher proposed a new "gold standard" for the surgical treatment of prostate adenoma.

A study conducted by N. K. Monolov showed that laser removal of prostate adenoma is the most effective and safest method among existing surgical treatment options. The results were published in the journal "Healthcare of Kyrgyzstan".

As part of a retrospective study, the condition of 320 patients was analyzed, divided into three groups depending on the method of surgery:

monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate;
bipolar plasmakinetic enucleation;
holmium laser enucleation.

During the analysis, intraoperative indicators, complication rates, and symptom dynamics over 12 months were assessed. The researchers studied changes related to the International Prostate Symptom Score, maximum urinary flow rate, and post-void residual volume.

The results showed that holmium laser enucleation provided:

the highest efficacy rate;
the lowest complication rate;
an average hospitalization duration reduced to two to three days.

Thus, the author of the study concluded that holmium laser enucleation is the safest and most effective method of surgical intervention for prostate adenoma, especially for patients with an enlarged prostate volume.
