The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, through the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine, has announced a tender for the procurement of insecticides. These products are intended for combating locust pests as well as the American white moth.

According to information posted on the state procurement portal, a total of 27 million 289.6 thousand soms is planned to be allocated for these purposes.

Suppliers can submit their proposals until March 10.

The products must be delivered to the village of Kozhomkul, located in the Chui region, within 20 calendar days after the contract is signed.

The American white moth poses a serious threat to woody and shrub crops, causing damage to more than 250 plant species. This pest was first observed in Kyrgyzstan in 2006. Among its preferred plants are mulberry, apple, pear, plum, quince, cherry, elderberry, and walnut. The caterpillars of the moth are highly voracious: with 8-10 egg masses on an average tree, complete defoliation can occur. As a result, orchards may lose both their crowns and their harvest.
