"First 6 thousand cameras, then 20 thousand, and then - more"
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev announced plans for the installation of video surveillance at a parliamentary meeting on February 26. Within the next two years, the entire territory of Kyrgyzstan will be covered by the video surveillance system.
Ashirkhodzhaev answered questions from deputies about how the Ministry of Internal Affairs intends to ensure the safety of citizens.
"At the moment, within the frameworks of the 'Safe City' and 'Safe Country' programs, cameras are already operational. We are in the process of installing 6 thousand cameras, and then we plan to add another 20 thousand. Complete video surveillance will be organized within 1-2 years," he stated.
In turn, Deputy Burul Amanova noted the necessity of placing patrols in areas where there are no cameras, such as public transport, shopping centers, and other places of large gatherings of people.
