At the republican meeting held on February 27 with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov, Baisalov announced plans for Kyrgyzstan to acquire four supercomputers.

He noted that in the spring of 2021, the president agreed to the request of Academician Syrtbay Musaev regarding the need to purchase a supercomputer for the development of artificial intelligence in the country.

“Compared to the budget of that year, the amount spent on one supercomputer was significant. We planned to purchase another machine, but for three years we could not make this purchase, despite the allocated funds. Nevertheless, in April we expect the arrival of four supercomputers at once. While our neighbors are buying them by the hundreds,” he added, emphasizing that the new computers will be used in the educational and medical fields.

The deputy prime minister also noted that the Starlink system was supposed to be implemented in Kyrgyzstan.

“Unfortunately, over the past four years, the implementation of this system has not taken place, although the president signed the relevant decision last autumn. This is undoubtedly a shame for us. Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan are already successfully using this system. This is a serious shortcoming on our part,” he concluded.
