Bolot Temirov filed a complaint with the UN against the authorities of Kyrgyzstan

His team of lawyers prepared an extensive document of 47 pages

Investigative journalist Bolot Temirov announced on social media that he has filed a complaint with the UN Human Rights Committee.

This document, consisting of 47 pages and more than 100 points, was drafted by his human rights team, which provides legal assistance to Temirov pro bono. In the statement, the journalist highlighted facts of violations of his international rights, including the right to a fair trial, protection against arbitrary detention, and freedom of speech.

It is worth noting that after a series of his investigations, Temirov was detained. He was charged with drug possession, illegal border crossing, and document forgery. The court found him not guilty in the drug case; however, he was found guilty in the document forgery case, but no punishment was imposed due to the statute of limitations.

The decision of the first-instance court was upheld by the Bishkek City Court, which also ordered the deportation of Temirov, who holds both Kyrgyz and Russian citizenship, as an additional punishment for document forgery. This decision was executed immediately.

Currently, Bolot Temirov is abroad and continues his work as a journalist.
