According to Sagynov, Resolution No. 270, adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on May 28, 2024, introduces a temporary ban on the collection and use of specific plants.
The ban concerns the following species: macrothomia, arnebia, ash tree, aconite, aflatun onion, rhodiola, Samarkand everlasting, as well as several species of beetles: Olga, long-stalked, stalked, and Chimgan.
The following actions are prohibited:
- collecting and processing plants;
- buying and selling them;
- transporting and using;
- exporting them outside the country.
Sagynov explained that macrothomia (endemic) is most often collected in the southern regions of the country, especially in the Toktogul district. Illegal collection mainly occurs in the mountains, where plants are smuggled abroad for sale. These plants have various uses, including medical and cosmetic. Regional inspectors regularly conduct raids to combat illegal collection, as uprooting plants with their roots causes serious damage to the ecosystem. "Our raids are ongoing, prompt, and round-the-clock," he added.
