The municipal authorities of Bishkek have presented a draft resolution regarding the regulation of municipal parking lots and spaces in the city. This document is currently under consideration by the deputies of the city council.
The key points of the project are as follows:
- to approve a new Regulation on municipal parking lots and spaces;
- to establish fixed parking rates;
- to introduce hourly payment for parking with an automated time tracking system.
According to the city hall, a differentiated (zonal) payment system will be implemented in the central part of the city, where the parking cost will range from 30 to 50 soms depending on the specific zone.
As for parking with an automated system, the following hourly rates are proposed:
- 30–50 soms for the first two hours;
- 20 soms for each subsequent hour.
The city hall is confident that the introduction of an automated system will help reduce instances of long-term parking in high-demand areas, as well as improve management efficiency and modernize the parking infrastructure of the capital.
The draft resolution is available on the official website of the Bishkek city council.
