On "Birinchi Radio," ENT doctor Nurdana Eshbolot kyzy shared important information about the prevention of otitis in young children.

According to the specialist, children are much more likely to suffer from ear, throat, and nose diseases. This is explained by the fact that they have a very small nasal cavity, a horizontal position of the Eustachian tube, and a short distance between the nose and ear.

“Diseases often begin due to ARVI when parents do not clear their children's noses. We often hear that if there is a runny nose, it will go away on its own. We always recommend: during ARVI, it is necessary to clear the nose, as this will help prevent otitis. The use of nasal aspirators is a good preventive measure,” the doctor noted.

Some parents mistakenly believe that antibiotics can replace nasal clearing as a preventive measure. However, as Nurdana Eshbolot kyzy emphasized, antibiotics do not prevent the occurrence of otitis.

Doctors also warn against the self-use of antibiotics, emphasizing that their prescription should be carried out by a doctor.

The specialist urged parents to pay attention to clearing their children's noses during flu and other viral diseases to avoid aspiration into the ear and acute forms of otitis, which can worsen the child's overall condition. This, in turn, can lead to hearing loss.
