At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, deputy Jumabek Salymbekov reported that a representative of a Kazakhstani beverage production company attempted to bribe cafe owners in Kyrgyzstan.

He stated that this person visited Bishkek and toured numerous cafes and restaurants.

“He said, ‘I will provide refrigerators and will pay, just don’t sell Kyrgyz drinks.’ The owners refused the offer, possibly due to patriotic feelings or fear of the authorities. They were asked to stop selling ‘Legenda’ and ‘Shoro,’ replacing them with the products he intended to supply,” the deputy added.

Although he did not name the company, it was a representative of Coca-Cola.
