The former mayor stated that the amount is 2 billion 300 million soms
Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, the former mayor of Osh, denied rumors that the mayor's office has a debt of 12 billion soms following his resignation. This information was mentioned in an interview with him.
According to Toktorbaev, before his appointment as mayor, 586 million soms were allocated from the budget for the repair of Mamyrava, Amir-Timur, and Kokum Bi streets. After he came to power, an additional 2 billion 200 million soms were allocated for road works, which allowed for the repair of many streets and about 100 kilometers of roads.
"Reports that the mayor's office is mired in debt are incorrect. As of today, the municipal capital construction debt to contractors is approximately 750 million soms, while the city road construction enterprise owes about 1 billion 500 million soms. In total, the overall debt to contracting organizations for completed work amounts to around 2 billion 300 million soms," Toktorbaev noted.
It should be noted that the work of the mayor's office is currently under the control of a commission from the Audit Chamber.
