The mayor of the capital commented on how the deputies of the Bishkek City Council use municipal property
The mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, commented on the situation regarding the use of municipal real estate by some city council deputies for their own interests.
He recalled an event that took place on January 30, 2025, when, during a dispute with representatives of the "Zhanı Kutch" ("New Force") faction in the City Council, information was revealed about nine plots of land leased by deputies.
Junushaliev noted: "This is only 10-15 percent of all the information. We have already submitted the collected materials to law enforcement agencies for further investigation. However, to be fair, it should be emphasized that the information concerns not only the deputies. It is important to conduct an audit of all municipal property that has been leased or privatized, including the property of our relatives."
In addition, at one of the meetings, deputy Maksat Toktogulov reported that one of the elected officials leases a plot of land from the city authorities for 66,000 soms per month, while subleasing it for 9,000 dollars.
