Today, March 12, the Jogorku Kenesh reviewed a draft law in its first reading that proposes to reduce the time within which government agencies are required to respond to citizens' appeals from 14 to 10 days.

According to Bakhtiyar Kalpaev, one of the initiators of the initiative, the current legislation requires a response within 14 working days, which, considering weekends, can extend up to 20 days.

“Given the digitization and the president's calls for a transition to electronic governance, we believe it is necessary to reduce the processing time for appeals to 10 working days so that citizens can receive faster and higher-quality responses,” he noted.

Kalpaev also provided examples from other countries: in Georgia, a response is provided within 10 days, in Japan — within 7, and in Singapore — from 3 to 7 days.

“Citizens do not turn to government agencies out of a good life, so it is important to create conditions for receiving prompt responses,” the deputy added.

After discussions, the deputies unanimously supported the draft law in its first reading.
