Ecotourism in Kyrgyzstan is growing: income from natural areas has doubled

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, income from tourism activities in specially protected natural areas of Kyrgyzstan has doubled, amounting to 37.7 million soms, which is 19.3 million soms more compared to 2024, corresponding to a growth of over 105%.

In 2025, the state nature reserves and parks of the country attracted 271,254 visitors. Interest in ecological routes has increased by almost 24%.

The majority of tourists were citizens of Kyrgyzstan, numbering approximately 250.5 thousand. There is also a stable interest from tourists from the CIS and other countries.

The ministry emphasizes that the increase in income is related to the optimization of tariffs and improvements in the administration of fees, despite a moderate growth in the number of visitors.

Additionally, as part of the development of ecotourism, control over compliance with environmental legislation is being strengthened. This year, 139 violations have been identified in specially protected areas, resulting in damage amounting to about 1.1 million soms.

Most violations (about 70%) concerned the plant world. Currently, damages have been recovered in the budget for 78 cases, while the remaining cases are at the stage of judicial and administrative proceedings.
