The new campus of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin will be built on the outskirts of Bishkek. The Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations Bekbosun Borubashev announced this at a meeting of the Education Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 16.

An agreement on the construction was reached in October 2023 during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Bishkek.

The Cabinet of Ministers allocated a 30-hectare plot in the village of Baytik for the implementation of this project. The Kyrgyz side is committed to resolving issues related to land and engineering communications, while the Russian side will handle the actual construction of the campus and the necessary infrastructure.

The project is planned to be implemented in three phases: the first phase will take place from 2026 to 2028, the second from 2028 to 2030, and the third from 2030 to 2032.

Currently, the project is in the ratification stage in the State Duma.
