The situation with more than 500 students of the branch of a Russian university in Karakol is becoming increasingly uncertain due to the suspension of the university's license. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Durusbek Kozoev at a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Deputy Bolot Sagynbaev raised the issue of the students' future and inquired whether they would have the opportunity to transfer to other educational institutions, considering the expiration of the university's license.

As Kozoev noted, the inspection of the university began in January 2025. The ministry's commission, which conducted the inspection, found that the institute did not meet the established licensing requirements, after which a warning was issued to its management. In April, the license was temporarily suspended.

“We sent numerous letters demanding the elimination of the identified violations, but they went unanswered. As a result, the ministry decided to go to court. Currently, the case is being heard in the Karakol City Court,” the deputy minister explained.

Of the 513 students, most did not undergo the nationwide testing (ORT), as they were admitted directly to the university branch.

“According to the legislation of Kyrgyzstan, without the results of the ORT, universities cannot accept these students. Most of them were admitted bypassing this requirement,” the deputy minister added.

In response to a question about the protection of students' rights, Kozoev stated that a final decision would be made by the court.
