Surabaldiyeva called to stop 'personal disputes' from the parliamentary podium

Erlan Kokulov once again criticized journalists

Elvira Surabaldiyeva, a member of the Jogorku Kenesh, addressed the speaker of parliament, urging to stop using the podium for personal disputes and statements. This appeal came after critical remarks from Erlan Kokulov directed at representatives of the press.

She emphasized that the parliamentary podium should serve as a platform for discussing important societal issues, rather than for personal grievances. According to Surabaldiyeva, deputies have other channels—such as media and podcasts—for expressing their opinions and complaints.

The deputy also highlighted the need for an equal approach from the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh towards all members of parliament and called on the speaker to avoid selectivity in granting the floor.

Furthermore, Surabaldiyeva reported that she herself has become a victim of information attacks and intends to appeal to the relevant authorities to conduct an investigation. She added that, despite such circumstances, she does not believe it is appropriate to air personal grievances on the parliamentary podium.

Earlier, Erlan Kokulov requested 10 minutes to speak on behalf of his faction and expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the press secretary of the State Traffic Safety Department, who published a video of him on social media and claimed that journalists distorted his words to the president. Kokulov asserts that there is a so-called "journalistic mafia" engaged in his discrediting.
