At the same time, Kokulov emphasized that there are responsible journalists in the country, for which he apologized to them.
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Eruulan Kokulov expressed concern about the work of some media outlets, emphasizing that they are violating the law. He stated that he has repeatedly addressed journalists with warnings about the need to comply with legislation.
“I have addressed you many times, warned you, as I consider myself your colleague. Why do you violate the law? Are there no rules for you?” Kokulov questioned.
Furthermore, the deputy criticized the spread of unverified information on social media, pointing out that journalists publish rumors, which is also a violation of the law.
Kokulov noted that he tried to resolve the situation peacefully, but ultimately felt the need to express his harsh criticism.
He reminded that about a month ago he claimed that “there are no journalists left in Kyrgyzstan,” and after those words, he began to receive threats regarding his speech. “Journalists did not understand one thing: when I said this, I expected an attack. It was a provocation to reveal facts of violations,” he added.
The deputy also accused journalists of violating ethical norms and principles of their profession.
He pointed out that his words addressed to the president were misinterpreted. According to him, there were reports in the media that he allegedly “complained to the president.” “Does this correspond to journalistic ethics? When did journalism in Kyrgyzstan become like this?” Kokulov questioned.
The deputy emphasized that his address should not be perceived as a complaint, as he was at his workplace and was simply asking questions. “If this is a complaint, then it turns out that I am complaining to the akim, to the governor, and to the ministries,” he noted.
He also expressed doubt about the adherence to the principles of journalistic ethics, asking the question: “Has journalistic ethics even survived in Kyrgyzstan? Do you understand what it is?”
Despite his grievances, Kokulov emphasized that there are also responsible journalists in Kyrgyzstan and decided to apologize to them.
