The President ratified the grant agreement with Japan
President Sadyr Japarov signed a law regarding the ratification of exchange notes between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Japan for the project "Improvement of medical equipment in referral hospitals in the southern regions." This agreement, as well as the Grant Agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), was signed on December 12, 2026, in Bishkek. This information was provided by the President's Administration.
The law was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh on February 26, 2025.
According to the terms of the agreement, the Japanese side allocates up to 1,801,000,000 Japanese yen for the implementation of the project, which aims to improve medical equipment in referral hospitals in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan.
The project aims to strengthen the diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases, as well as to provide hospitals with the necessary equipment for the therapy of cardiovascular and oncological diseases. This, in turn, should enhance the quality of medical services and the availability of specialized assistance for residents of the Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, as stated in the official announcement.
