The director of the Phthisiatry Center spoke about the situation with tuberculosis in Kyrgyzstan

On the air of "Birinchi Radio," the director of the National Center for Phthisiatry, Abdulaat Kadyrov, shared information about the current state of tuberculosis in Kyrgyzstan.

He noted that the epidemiological situation remains quite tense due to high rates of morbidity and mortality.

Preliminary data for 2025 indicate that the number of tuberculosis cases is 52.1 per 100,000 population, while the mortality rate is 2.1 per 100,000.

“The highest rates of morbidity and mortality were recorded in 2001, when there were 168 cases of the disease and 27 deaths per 100,000 population,” Kadyrov reported.

The head of the center emphasized that compared to 2001, tuberculosis morbidity has decreased by almost three times. Since 1996, five programs have been implemented in the country to combat this disease.

It was also previously reported that tuberculosis was detected in one of the military personnel in the Department of Protection and Escort of the State Penitentiary Service.
