The Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan has announced the approval of new standards for initial vocational education in the field of driver training. These changes pertain to the training of both category B passenger car drivers and category C truck drivers.

According to the new standards, the training period for citizens with basic or secondary general education will be 10 months for full-time study. Retraining and vocational training programs may last up to one year.

The total workload of the educational program for the academic year must be no less than 320 hours. This figure includes laboratory and practical classes, as well as 70 hours of practical driving, which are conducted separately from the main academic load.

The academic load for the 10-month program will be 8 academic hours per week.

For reference, under the previous regulations, training in driving schools in Kyrgyzstan lasted significantly less: most courses for category B drivers took an average of 2–3 months, and practical driving comprised about 50–60 hours.
