The Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan has approved new state educational standards for driver training. This step is aimed at improving the quality of specialist training.

Driver training for category "B" vehicles will be conducted in the following formats:

The duration of training in the educational program for the full-time format is:


The total workload of the program for the academic year is at least 320 hours, including laboratory and practical classes and 70 hours of practical driving.

Teachers and masters of industrial training are required to undergo internships in specialized organizations at least once every three years.


The adopted state standard is aimed at improving the quality of driver training, which, according to the authorities, should help reduce the number of accidents, improve the professional skills of graduates, and increase road safety.

It was previously reported that starting from September 2026, six specialized subjects related to driving and road transport will be introduced in general educational institutions.

Also, in early November, Kanibek Tumanbaev, the head of the president's office, stated that all private driving schools in the country would be closed, and the duration of training would be extended.

President Sadyr Japarov emphasized that "up to 90 percent of driver's licenses in previous years were obtained without proper training" and assured that the possibility of purchasing licenses would be excluded.
