The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic has presented for public discussion a draft order concerning the approval of state educational standards for initial vocational education for drivers of categories "B" and "C".

Among the key objectives of this project are:

— defining the minimum mandatory requirements for the structure, content, and outcomes of the educational program;
— creating a unified approach to driver training in vocational education organizations, regardless of their ownership and subordination;
— adapting educational requirements to modern professional standards and labor market needs.

This state standard aims to improve the quality of driver training, which, in turn, should lead to a reduction in the number of accidents, an increase in the professional skills of graduates, and an overall improvement in road safety.

According to the standard, various forms of training are provided for drivers of category "B":

Upon admission, applicants must provide one of the following documents:

The normative duration of training for this profession in the full-time form is:

The total workload of the educational program for the academic year (10 months under the standard training mode) is at least 480 hours, including laboratory and practical classes in subjects and 70 hours of practical driving.

As for drivers of category "C", the normative duration of mastering the educational program in the full-time form is:

During the academic year (12 months under standard training), it is necessary to complete at least 576 hours, including laboratory and practical classes and 100 hours of practical driving.

It was previously reported that starting in September 2026, six specialized subjects related to driving and road transport will begin to be implemented in general education schools.

In early November, Kanibek Tumanbaev, the head of the president's office, announced plans to close all private driving schools in the country and extend training periods.

President Sadyr Japarov noted that "up to 90 percent of driver's licenses in previous years were issued without proper training," emphasizing that in the future, purchasing a license will become impossible.
