Kanybek Tumanbaev, the head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, announced information regarding the cost of driving lessons in connection with the transfer of all driving schools under state control.
The official noted that the price for training will not change, despite the fact that the driver training program will last for 14 months.
“Although the theoretical and practical training program will be revised after the transfer of driving schools to state management, the cost of courses for adults will remain the same as it is now. We will pay more attention to quality control of the training,” he added.
Tumanbaev emphasized that the main goal of this reform is to improve the quality of driver training and reduce the number of road traffic accidents in the country.
In addition, he reported that starting from 2026, high school students will be able to take a driving course as part of their school education.
“11th-grade students, starting at the age of 16, will be able to learn the basics of driving at school, so that by the time they reach adulthood, they will be ready to obtain a driver's license,” Tumanbaev noted.
