After Kanybek Tumanbaev, the head of the president's office, announced that training in driving schools will now take 14 months and that private institutions will close starting in 2026, there has been a sharp increase in the number of people wanting to enroll in driving courses. People are eager to complete their training in 2.5 months.
“You can still sign up and complete training under the old rules until December. There are almost no spots left. We had a sleepless night yesterday; people are leaving deposits, but the electronic system cannot handle the influx of applications,”

According to representatives of driving schools, as long as the law is not signed, training can continue. If those interested manage to enroll in December, they will be able to complete the course before the new rules take effect and obtain their driver's licenses.
“The law will come into effect only after being signed by the president. Before that happens, it must be approved by the deputies, which will take at least three months. Thus, we will manage to conduct at least one course. There may be no spots left within two days,” they added at another driving school.
New driver's licenses will start being issued in Kyrgyzstan from November
At the presentation of the new passports, Kanybek Tumanbaev noted that many licenses are purchased, and some people do not even attend driving lessons. He emphasized that there is a lack of driving culture on the roads, and therefore the state will take on the responsibility of training. All willing individuals starting from the age of 16 will be able to train in state driving schools. The training will last 14 months and will include mandatory practical lessons throughout all seasons.
“Summer and winter driving conditions differ significantly. Therefore, specific practice and corresponding qualifications will be provided during the winter period,” added the head of the president's office.
He also noted that driving lessons may be introduced in general education schools if desired.
