Kanibek Tumanbaev: Private driving schools take money but do not provide knowledge

During a recent live broadcast, the Chief of Staff of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Kanibek Tumanbaev, expressed dissatisfaction with the work of private driving schools, which, in his opinion, only collect money without providing an adequate level of education for their students.

He noted that many of these institutions use corrupt schemes, establishing agreements with employees of the UNAA to obtain permits for exams.

“Driving schools simply hand over money and gain access to exams, but their students do not acquire the necessary knowledge. I want to reassure all citizens of the country — all our reforms are aimed at reducing the number of accidents and deaths on the roads. Only quality training will allow drivers to respond correctly in difficult situations,” Tumanbaev added.

He also reported that the state is creating all the necessary conditions to improve the quality of driver training. In particular, an online learning option will be implemented for those who cannot attend classes in person, such as women on maternity leave or residents of remote regions.

“Practical classes will be held at any time of the year so that future drivers can gain the necessary experience in driving a car in various weather conditions. The training program has already been developed, and we strive to prepare conscious and responsible drivers,” he noted.

At the end of his speech, Tumanbaev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan ranks first in the region in terms of the number of traffic accidents and fatalities on the roads, which is an extremely negative indicator.

“This situation requires immediate correction. Human life is the most valuable thing. Our goal is to reduce the accident rate and improve the quality of driver training,” he summarized.
