According to the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations, the need to change the rules arose after the adoption of the new education law in 2023.
Under the new law, individuals with primary vocational education can study through accelerated programs to obtain secondary vocational education, taking into account their previous achievements.
Admission to colleges and technical schools may now be based on the results of the nationwide testing. The threshold scores for the nationwide testing will be set by the ministry annually.
Admission and Enrollment Procedure
1. For grant places and budget-funded places based on secondary general education (after 11th grade), admission of applicants will be conducted based on the results of the nationwide testing, with the exception of specialties in culture, arts, physical culture, and sports.- Applicants who score equal to or above the established threshold on the main test (for medical and pharmaceutical specialties - on both the main and subject tests) will be allowed to participate in the competition. Enrollment will be based on the highest scores.
- The list of specialties requiring additional subject tests will be approved by the authorized body.
- Educational institutions may introduce additional tests for competitive enrollment. Information about these tests must be available before the start of testing. Applicants with high scores on the nationwide testing who successfully pass the additional tests will be allowed to compete.
- The competition for enrollment based on the results of the nationwide testing will be conducted exclusively through an automated information system.
- The competition for grant places and paid places will not consider the social categories indicated in the nationwide testing certificate.
3. Individuals with a diploma of primary vocational education in the relevant profile will be able to enroll in accelerated programs.
