In the Sverdlovsk region, a complete set of documents confirming the legality of migrant children's residence in Russia will now be required for their admission to kindergartens. This was reported by Natalia Sokovskaya, head of the department for implementing state policy in the field of general education at the regional Ministry of Education.

Parents will now need to provide documents similar to those required for school enrollment.

“Recently, we received a new order from the federal ministry that introduces changes to the procedure for admission to preschool education programs,” she noted.

It is important to emphasize that this innovation is not related to testing but only concerns the documentation process. Children of foreign nationals will be able to enroll in preschool institutions only if a complete set of documents is provided, just like those wishing to enroll in school.

These changes have been introduced due to the increase in the number of migrant children who are in the country illegally. In the Sverdlovsk region, there are more than 5,000 such children.
