In Russia, more than 80% of children from migrant families have not been admitted to educational institutions. This is reported by DW.

According to their data, only 19% of migrant children were able to enroll in Russian schools. This became possible after successfully passing the mandatory Russian language test and properly completing all the necessary documents by the parents.

In September, Rosobrnadzor informed that out of 5,940 children applying for admission, 2,964 children successfully passed the Russian language test. This accounts for almost 50% of the total number of test-takers and 12.6% of all submitted applications, as noted by RBC.

The mandatory testing for migrant children was introduced in Russian schools starting in April 2025. The difficulty level of the tests depends on the grade the child intends to enter. The bill also covers children from families where Russian is the only language of communication.
