In Bishkek, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Day was celebrated
Nazgul Turdubekova, director of the "Ene üyi" center, noted that this model is recognized as a flagship by the UN. This initiative has demonstrated its effectiveness in maintaining the connection between mothers and children and in reducing the number of cases of children being placed in orphanages.
The Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jamila Jamambaeva, emphasized that a child's right to life and upbringing in a family is fundamental to the realization of all other rights:
“Our goal is that no child in Kyrgyzstan remains without parents unless absolutely necessary.”
Antje Grave, the UN Resident Coordinator in the country, highlighted the importance of the center's work, stating:
“Ene üyi” implements one of the key principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, providing support to mothers and children in difficult situations and keeping children in families.”
Sylvia Hill, UNICEF's Child Protection Program Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, noted that 550 social workers and the "Ene üyi" center play a crucial role in supporting and protecting children and their families.
Saed Sadik, head of UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, added: "By protecting mothers, we preserve families."
The event was attended by representatives of government structures, international organizations, NGOs, and the media. Guests were introduced to the work of the "Ene üyi" Center, discussed children's right to live in a family, the traditions of the Kyrgyz people in supporting mothers and children, and the importance of interagency cooperation for preserving families.
All participants agreed that a family atmosphere and parental love are the foundation of a child's well-being.
The event was organized by the "Ene üyi" center (a branch of the "Mother's House" - MHIF) and the "League of Child Rights Defenders" NGO.
