In Bishkek, the results of the National Study on Violence in Educational Institutions and Child Protection were made public.

The research group, represented by Cholpon Akmatova, shared the data obtained during their work.

As part of the study, 50 public schools located in seven regions, including Bishkek and Osh, were surveyed. The team included 17 field experts, as well as a psychologist, sociologist, and data analyst. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, minors committed 1,500 crimes.

Akmatova also provided statistics from the Ministry of Education as of the end of 2024, according to which 3,600 students were registered with the Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Department.

The study conducted by the Ombudsman Institute in 2023 showed that more than 70% of respondents had encountered cyberbullying on social media at least once, and over 60% had experienced it in messaging apps, primarily on Facebook. More than 80% of them reported sexual undertones.

Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to digital gender-based violence. The most common forms of such violence include trolling (43.9%), bullying or blackmail (39.7%), and hate comments (37.6%). At the same time, 51% of schoolchildren in Kyrgyzstan have witnessed violence in educational institutions.

According to data collected by the "League of Child Rights Defenders," every second schoolchild in Kyrgyzstan faces bullying in one form or another.

Psychological violence, including verbal abuse, humiliation, intimidation, and threats, is the most common form. The second place is occupied by racketeering and extortion, while the third place is taken by "dedovshchina," meaning the exploitation of younger students by older ones, Akmatova noted.
