According to information provided by the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science, only one in five migrant children has been enrolled in educational institutions in Russia. Approximately 81% of children were unable to meet the new requirements that were introduced starting April 2025, as reported by RBC. The main difficulties were due to insufficient knowledge of the Russian language and errors made by parents in preparing the necessary documents.

As of April 1, 2025, mandatory testing in the Russian language for all foreign children wishing to enroll in schools came into effect. There was also a requirement for fingerprint registration for children starting from the age of six. Parents must provide a complete set of documents confirming the legality of the family's stay in Russia, including a residence permit, temporary residence permit, or a valid visa.
