Tumanbaev: Driver training will last 14 months, but the price will not change

Kanybek Tumanbaev, the head of the President's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic, announced upcoming changes in driver training, which will last for 14 months after all driving schools transition to state management.

He noted that despite the extension of the training program, the cost of education will remain at the same level.

“With the change in the management of driving schools, theoretical and practical courses will be revised; however, the rates for adults will remain unchanged. We will also strengthen control over the quality of the educational process,” Tumanbaev emphasized.

According to him, the main goal of the reform is to improve the quality of driver training and reduce the number of road traffic accidents in the country.

Additionally, starting in 2026, high school students will be able to study driving as part of the school curriculum.

“11th-grade students, starting at the age of 16, will have the opportunity to learn the basics of driving in school, so that by the time they reach adulthood, they will be ready to obtain a driver's license,” he added.
