Changes to the admission rules for colleges and technical schools in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced upcoming changes to the admission rules for secondary vocational educational institutions.

The draft of the new government resolution has been put up for public discussion.

In this context, the Minister of Education noted that a new education law was adopted in 2023, which necessitates a review of the current admission rules for colleges and technical schools.

According to the adopted law, admission is possible for individuals with initial vocational education, as well as based on the results of the General Republican Testing (ORT). The Ministry will set the threshold scores each year. Additionally, educational institutions have the right to introduce additional tests for competitive selection.

The competition for applicants based on the results of this year's ORT will be conducted exclusively through an automated information system (AIS).

Admission to grant-funded places and paid places will be carried out without regard to the social categories indicated in the ORT certificate.

The selection of applicants with basic general education (9 grades) will be based on the average score of the certificate of basic general education or the results of entrance exams.

Individuals holding a diploma of initial vocational education in the relevant field will be able to enroll in accelerated training programs.
