The XXV Summer Deaflympics were opened in Tokyo

The National Complex "Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium" became the venue for a solemn ceremony that gathered over 3,000 athletes from 81 countries. This event took place on November 15 in the Japanese capital, where the significance of the upcoming competitions was highlighted.

The President of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), Adam Kosa, opened the Games, emphasizing that this year's competitions are dedicated to the centenary of the Deaflympic movement. Guests at the ceremony were presented with a diverse cultural program that showcased both the traditions and modern achievements of Japan.

Kyrgyzstan was represented at the event by Master of Sports in table tennis Mirbek Aaliyev, who carried the flag of his country.

A total of 209 medals will be contested in 21 sports during the Deaflympics. The national team of Kyrgyzstan has declared 19 athletes who will compete in disciplines such as deaf judo, table tennis, Greco-Roman wrestling, taekwondo, and freestyle wrestling.

The first competitions for Kyrgyz athletes will take place on November 16, starting with events in deaf judo.
