FIFA reports a record level of interest from football fans for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. In the third round of ticket sales, over 150 million applications were registered.
According to FIFA, applications came from more than 200 countries, and the overall interest in tickets exceeded their available quantity by almost 30 times. The final stage of sales will end on January 13.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that this championship will be the largest event in the history of football tournaments, noting that the high demand reflects the global popularity of football.
Previously, FIFA changed its pricing strategy after criticism from fans. The European Football Fans Association (FSE) criticized the initial prices and called for a suspension of sales. In particular, under the loyalty program, the price for attending all matches of one's team up to the final reached $6,900, which significantly exceeded the prices for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
After the price review, some tickets became available from $60, and the minimum total cost of a package up to the final was $4,185.
The 2026 World Cup will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament's opening is scheduled for June 11, and the final will take place on July 19.
