The U-20 World Ice Hockey Championship has kicked off in Bishkek

On January 18, the World Championship in ice hockey for under 20 years old (U-20) started in Bishkek. This was reported by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan.

Present at the opening of the tournament were: Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov, Mayor of the capital Aibek Junushaliev, Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports Kazibek Moldazhiyev, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic Umbetaly Kydyraiev, member of the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation Franz Reindl, and President of the Ice Hockey Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic Anvar Omorkanov, as well as coaches, athletes, and fans.

Edil Baisalov, addressing the participants, expressed joy at the arrival of young hockey players from all over the world to the beautiful Kyrgyz land. He noted that such international tournaments help strengthen friendship through sports and provide youth with important experience. In addition, he wished the players fair play, a magnificent sporting spirit, and unforgettable encounters.

On the opening day, a match took place between the youth national team of Kyrgyzstan and the team from Hong Kong (China).

As a result of the game, the national team of Kyrgyzstan won against Hong Kong with a final score of 4:1.

The U-20 World Ice Hockey Championship will take place until January 24. Teams from Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, South Africa, Iran, and Hong Kong (China) are participating in the tournament.
