Justin Gaethje became the interim UFC lightweight champion


At UFC 324, which took place in Las Vegas, Justin Gaethje defeated Paddy Pimblett and won the interim UFC lightweight championship title. The fight, which went the full five rounds, ended with a unanimous decision from the judges with scores of 48:47, 49:46, and 49:46 in favor of Gaethje.

For the 37-year-old athlete, this victory marked the 27th of his career, in which he now has five losses and ten wins in the UFC. Meanwhile, Paddy Pimblett suffered his fourth loss in mixed martial arts and his first since debuting in the UFC.

Despite the loss, the fight was recognized as the Fight of the Night, allowing both fighters to receive additional bonuses of $100,000 each. This victory significantly strengthened Justin Gaethje's position in the lightweight division and brought him closer to the opportunity to compete in a unification championship bout.
