Myktybek Orolbai Uulu Sets New Record in UFC

Kyrgyz mixed martial artist Myktybek Orolbai uulu set a record in the welterweight division (77 kg) of the UFC for the most successful takedowns in a single fight.

This achievement was made possible on March 15 at UFC Fight Night 269, which took place in Las Vegas, during his bout against American Chris Curtis.

During the fight, Orolbai uulu managed to execute 19 takedowns, marking a historic milestone for the welterweight division. From the very beginning of the match, it was evident that the Kyrgyz fighter was struggling to operate in striking against a southpaw. In the first minute of the fight, he successfully took Curtis down and began to control the situation. In the remaining time, he added another 18 successful takedowns.

The record for the most takedowns in a single UFC fight belongs to lightweight fighter (70 kg) Khabib Nurmagomedov. In 2013, he recorded 21 takedowns while facing Abel Trujillo.

In second place on this list is bantamweight fighter (61 kg) Merab Dvalishvili, who in 2025 executed 20 successful takedowns in a fight against Cory Sandhagen.
