Naryn Regional Musical and Drama Theater named after M. Ryskulov
In 1935, small theaters of collective farms and state farms were created, which served as the basis for the establishment of the regional theater. In 1939, after the decade of Kyrgyz literature and art in Moscow, the theaters of the Jumgal and Naryn districts were merged, and the Naryn Regional Drama Theater was established. In 1941, the Issyk-Kul Regional Drama Theater was disbanded and joined the Naryn Regional Drama Theater. In 1949, all regional theaters were disbanded. In 1958, regional theaters were revived, and the Tien-Shan Regional Musical Theater was created. In 1970, the Tien-Shan Regional Theater was granted the status of a "musical and drama theater." In 1977, in honor of its 40th anniversary, the theater was named the Musical and Drama Theater named after Muratbek Ryskulov. In 2008, the NMDT named after M. Ryskulov received the status of an "academic theater."
As of 2015, the staffing schedule consists of 109 positions, including 4 administrative positions, 53 creative staff, and 51 technical staff. There is 1 People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic (Damira Baratbaeva), and 5 Honored Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bermet Omurova, Burul Mamytova, Asmatzhan Toktomusheva, Akelen Kusakov, Kenjegul Mendebaev). The director of the theater is Ibraimov Daniyar Shermatovich, and the artistic director is Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic Akelen Kusakov.
