In 1977, he moved to the city of Osh, where until 1981 he worked as the head of the architectural group at the Osh branch of the design institute "Kyrgyzgipro-stroy."
Since 1981, he has been the director of the Osh Artistic Production Workshops of the Artistic Fund of the Kyrgyz SSR, and is a member of the regional architectural and artistic council and the executive committee's commission for the introduction of new rituals.

Member of the Union of Architects of the USSR since 1981.

For Akhmetov, drawing and architecture are inseparable. Perspectives for projects and artistic sketches complement each other. It is completely natural that Marat Miniakhovich is both an architect and an artist. These best qualities manifested themselves in his work on the construction of the Uzbek Drama Theater named after Kirov in the city of Osh, where he was involved in the development of facades, interiors, and the general plan. The external appearance of the building, the halls, foyer, and vestibules reflect the motifs of Uzbek national architecture. Characteristic lines of Eastern ornamentation, deep plasticity of the main entrance, thoughtful advertising, and the richness of small architectural forms surrounding the building create a sense of a theatrical structure.
A lot of inventiveness was shown in the creation of the western microdistrict of the city of Osh. The variety of plastic solutions for the railings of balconies, textures of panels, the inclusion of active colors, national ornamentation, and advertising elements allowed him to achieve the necessary expressiveness of the architectural environment. The design of the hotel in Jalal-Abad is also quite interesting. The deep plasticity and active color leave a pleasant impression of a building modern in spirit.
