Teke chabysh is a game that resembles a kind of "hockey" on the ground.
It can involve 5 to 10 players of any age at the same time. On a flat area, a circle with a diameter of 4 to 4.5 meters is drawn. A hole is made in the center. This is the "kazan" (cauldron). Around the circle, depending on the number of players (not counting the Leader), holes are made at equal distances from each other. Each player must have a stick or a club. A vertebral bone, an empty tin can, or a hockey ball is used as the "teke" (goat). The Leader is determined by drawing lots.
The Leader, standing 10 to 12 meters away from the circle, starts the game: with the stick, he leads the "teke" towards the circle. His task is to drive the "teke" into the circle and roll it into the "kazan." But this is not easy. The players, with their sticks planted in their holes, carefully watch his actions. As the Leader approaches, they push the "teke" away from the circle with a stick. Each player strives to roll it as far away as possible.
After making a hit, the player immediately returns the stick to their hole. The Leader can take any free hole. Then the player who lost their hole becomes the Leader. The Leader who manages to roll the "teke" into the "kazan" becomes the winner. The other players lift him onto their shoulders, and he takes a so-called victory lap. Then the game starts again.
In the game, it is forbidden to hit the Leader's leg with the stick; to hold him with hands or push him; to raise the stick high; a player who has not left their hole cannot take another player's free hole. However, if several players have left their holes to drive away the "teke," and upon returning engage in a struggle with the Leader for the holes, then they can occupy any free hole.
