Peak Komsomolets

Peak Komsomolets - 4170m above sea level

Located on the mountain ridge that separates the Aala-Archa Gorge and the Baychekekey Gorge, approximately 7.5 km from the alpine camp. The snowy peak can be seen from some streets in the city of Bishkek. It is almost always covered with snow at any time of the year. This peak has a climbing difficulty category of 1A.

Due to the fact that one of the routes to ascend this peak is simple and does not require the use of safety gear, it has become popular for initiating beginners into mountaineering during the traditional mountaineering event held every year on May 1st. The ascent begins early in the morning from the Aala-Archa alpine camp, which is located at an altitude of 2170m above sea level. About 10 meters from the camp's hotel, a trail leads left, which after 1.5 km reaches two huge stones lying on the steep slope of the Ak-Sai gorge. Climbers usually refer to them as 'Tarasik's stones' or simply 'Tarasik'. A short break is often made here. Further, the trail continues with a slight, even ascent to the east until it reaches a cliff overlooking the Sharkaratma River, then turns north and ascends a steep slope by 450m, crossing a rocky scree, and after 3.4 km from Tarasik, reaches the Violet Pass (3530m above sea level). Here climbers usually take a second break and have a small lunch. If necessary, one can stop the ascent and return to the alpine camp, thus making an honorable descent from the route. Next, it is necessary to walk another 2.4 km with an ascent of 650m. The passage becomes more difficult due to the combination of high altitude and steep ascent. Snowy sections with snow up to half a meter may be encountered along the way.
