The Passes of the Talas Region
Talas Passes
The Otmok Pass (height 3330) is located in the Talas region and stretches from Susamyr to Talas, connecting the region with the Suusamyr Valley and the Bishkek — Osh highway. The road tests your patience, but generously rewards the eye and heart with beauty and unforgettable impressions. The alpine highlands around the upper point of the Otmok Pass are intensively used as summer pastures.
The Karabuura Pass (height 3302) is located in the Talas region and stretches from Talas to Jalal-Abad. You can ascend to the pass via the Karakasmak River and then descend down the Karabuura River to reach the Kirov Reservoir in the foothills of the Ak-Tash mountains. The road is constantly being repaired by local geo-industrialists, and the ascent is not particularly difficult. On the neighboring slope, an ancient trail is clearly visible, and looking at it, you begin to understand how hard the work of ancient caravan traders was and realize that throughout history, people have walked the same paths and made stops in the same places where people live today.
The Terek Pass (height 3907) is located in the Talas region and stretches from Toktogul to Talas. The path to the summit is dangerous - gravel, dust, bumps. You will be amazed by the beautiful view of the mountains that rise before you! They are perilous for drivers prone to dizziness. The road is very steep. The passage is usually open from May to November.
