Abshir-Sai
Abshir-Sai (Waterfall Gorge) is located in the mountain valley of the river of the same name, flowing from the northern slopes of the Kichik-Alai mountain range. The distance from the city of Osh to Abshir-Sai is 70 km. The mountainous part of the valley begins with rocky, distinctive gates formed by layers of limestone, standing out against the backdrop of picturesque slopes.
Three kilometers from the mouth of the narrow gorge is the main attraction of the area - the famous Abshir-Sai Waterfall, which is a unique creation of nature, declared a monument. From a round opening about two meters in diameter in a sheer hundred-meter wall, a torrent of sparkling water bursts forth, enveloped in clouds of water dust. In the vicinity of the waterfall, there are two other sites of great interest to tourists. These include the Kotur-Bulak spring with crystal clear cool water flowing from underground depths, located inside a huge karst grotto on the left cliff of the canyon. Ten kilometers from it is the dammed Abshir-Sai Lake, from which the Abshir-Sai river flows through the dam. Surrounding it are humped peaks with scorched grass. The gentle slopes are covered with rock debris and juniper forest.
In the valley of the Abshir-Sai river, one can find rock paintings. One group is located 5 km south of the village of Kek-Djar, and another is 20 km south of the Abshir-Sai waterfall, at the river's source.
The upper reaches of the Abshir-Sai river are called Kapchigay (gorge). It flows through a picturesque gorge overgrown with diverse vegetation. Above the sources are passes (3600 m) that lead to the small lake Yashin-Kel, which is located in the valley of the Tegermesh river.
