Thermal Springs of Chon-Kyzylsuu

Thermal Springs of Chon-Kyzylsuu are located 20 km southeast of the village of Pokrovka in the southeastern part of the Issyk-Kul region at an absolute altitude of 2400 m on the right bank of the Chon-Kyzylsuu River, below the confluence with its right tributary, the Jilisu stream.

The water of Chon-Kyzylsuu has a maximum temperature of up to 43°C, a mineralization of 0.4 g/l, and a sodium sulfate-chloride composition with a high content of bicarbonate ions, which aligns well with the water analysis data from other thermal springs in the area; the local water contains about 10 mg/l of fluoride and about 75 mg/l of silicic acid, making it a therapeutic siliceous water based on the latter's content.

In the 1950s, two low wooden cabins were built over the hot water outlets, covering the depressions in the granite rock, which have since served as the baths of the "Chon-Kyzylsuu balneological clinic, used by the local population" — this is how specialists typically refer to such places. There is virtually no medical supervision here; tents and yurts are used for rest and overnight stays, and only occasionally does a mobile shop visit, but still, during the warm season, from early morning until late evening, the baths are never empty and likely provide many visitors with benefits in their fight against ailments.

A fairly good road leads to the Chon-Kyzylsuu springs, continuing on to the Tian Shan Physical Geography Station of the Academy of Sciences. Near the springs, there is a picturesque area covered with spruce forest, with sites available for construction, which raises hopes for improving the quality and increasing the volume of their therapeutic use.
